Description

Traditionally, the colonies were forced to adopt legal mechanisms to preserve their integrity upon achieving independence to overcome the fissiparous tendencies created by the imposition of nation-statehood.

While both North and South America and nearly half of Africa have been converted to the religion of the European colonisers, this is not the case with the former colonies in Asia. Quite early in the book, Sai Deepak will have introduced you to the acronym OET, that expands as ontology epistemology theology. This treatise in fact constituted only a descriptive recording of customs and practices, rather than religious law, but it is now wrongly treated as the essence of Hinduism by liberal thinkers.

Pros: In the initial part of the book the authors discusses Decoloniality and how it has to be applied in the Indian context. Certain wise man rightly said once — " some ideas are so stupid that only intellctuals believe them ". In the final part, the author analyzes the role of Christian secularism and gives a sneak-peek into whether it had an influence during the framing of the Government of India act of 1919, which formed the basis for our constitution later.

We get an in-depth view to understand what decoloniality means and how it differs from other schools of thought like modernism, post-modernism, and post-colonialism. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Anna University (2002-06) and a bachelor’s degree in law from IIT Kharagpur (2006-09). I have followed J Sai Deepak for quite some time now through social media platforms, namely Facebook and Twitter.

He clearly demonstrates how it was Christian beliefs about race and superiority were the driving factors behind the colonial nature of European forces and that everything else was simply a by-product of that colonising nature. The book traces the origin of words such as tolerance, secularism and humanism to Christian political thought and finds that they were utilised to subvert indigenous ideas through a constitution that was apparently secular and universal, yet anti-Indic. If you believe these stories should be told and those in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement remembered, join us! Coloniality is the fundamental element of colonialism that facilitates colonization of the mind through complete domination of the culture and world view of the colonized society.
