The EVA midsole on these is well cushioned and moulded to offer a snug fit to the arch of the foot whilst the lugs on the outsole are chunky enough to stop you from slipping on more precarious bits of terrain. For their all-round usefulness, the Teva Terra Fi 5 Universal were our favourites, though we found the Regatta Harris sandal to be a great budget-friendly option as well. The thick, bouncy sole – not unlike the kind you might find on a pair of trainers –provides plenty of comfort and grip, although it might be a bit bulky for technical trails. The thick rubber sole is well-moulded to the foot thanks to the ‘Trigenic System’ (responsive cushioning and flexibility to you and us) and the lugs, though not that deep, offer a decent amount of grip on smooth surfaces and when walking downhill. Though probably not the best option for dipping in the sea, these are sturdy enough to withstand longer strolls. Though they probably aren’t the best option for tearing up mountains and through gorges, they will withstand a strenuous daytime stroll or two in summer weather. Designed with stand-up paddle boarders and kayakers in mind, the result is a great all-round sandal with plenty of protection for taking on the rough stuff. Whatever you think about the look for adults, these clog-style sandals have plenty going for them: they're lightweight, flexible and easy to clean.The rubber toe bumper adds extra toe protection to make these a little more suited to hiking when compared to a traditional open-toed sandal style.
