I can't believe it took me so long to read this book, I started loving to read late in life only about 2 years ago so I am very behind! Jack's relentless crusade puts him into a head-on collision with one of the most powerful and ruthless men in New York, a man who wipes out resistance with a snap of his fingers. As they did with MIRACLE ON THE 17TH GREEN, James Patterson and Peter De Jonge combine their talents to provide a stirring thriller filled with non stop action. To my knowledge, Patterson has never written Mitchner-length chapters, but he at least used them to build suspense.

Not to fear Just because megaselling Patterson has teamed up once more with journalist collaborator de Jonge ( Miracle on the 17th Green) doesn't make the pace of this slick, ludicrous thriller any slower, the puppets any more complex, or the sentences any longer. His younger brother, a somewhat shady character is reported drowned but it is soon evident that there is more to this story than meets the eye. But its beautiful gothic exterior hides a horrific past: It was the scene of a series of depraved killings that have never been solved. Unlike some of Patterson's stand-alones, however, including the most recent, Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas, this doesn't move Patterson into new territory: it's a slick, vastly enjoyable yet far-fetched thriller—i. My wife and started listening in the morning while in bed and just stayed there and did nothing for most of the day cuz it was so absorbing.What isn’t obvious, though in retrospect it should be, is Jack’s scheme for making sure justice is done anyway.
