Description

This allows you to use your normal sti/ergo levers on a disc brake bike without the expense of upgrading everything to accommodate a full hydraulic set up. They are certainly better than the TRP's but aren't anywhere near my Road Shimano Hydro's or even my mates BB7's with Shimano Mechanical Shifters. Finally got round to fitting my set a week ago, had one ride on them so far and was impressed despite them being brand new and not really bedded in. It is about 25% lighter than actual TRP HY/RD, which is famous as a lightweight Cable Actuated Hydraulic Disc Brake. Ok, not as good as a fully sealed hydraulic system, but I find them more robust than mechanical discs in wet and mud as I find mechanical systems fill their guys with crap and stop working effeectively.

In the box, you get a set of brake calipers in a choice of bling anodized finishes: JuinTech sent us the red. The Juin tech F1 Flat Mount hydraulic cable pull road disc brake set offers a unique solution to the rider wanting to upgrade from mechanical cable pull disc brakes. First things first, we had to prise Juin Tech's R1 brakes out of their attractive lime-green packaging and fit them onto the bike.So saying – I’ll be treating the Tripster over the next few months with an upgrade to shimano full hydraulic / 11 speed, which I’m looking forward to. The package includes a pair of brakes (pads included), 2 flat mount adapters, 2 160 mm discs + screws. Rim brake shifters and hydro calipers interest me, but as you guys say, the routing will probably make be a journey in to irritation. If you're hoping for stopping power that's comparable to the best hydraulic systems then we hate to break it to you, these aren't that. The brakes work in a closed circuit and therefore do not need bleeding (it can be done when necessary), there are two adjustments, one for cable clearance and one for oil pressure / pad distance.

The JUIN Tech F1 hybrid disc brake with flat mount is the addition to the R1 (post mount) and offers a unique solution for racing / gravel / cyclocross (CX) riders who want to upgrade from mechanical cable disc brakes to hydraulic brake calipers . In terms of functionality, simplicity to install/adjust, weight and cost they seem to be pretty much the best thing out there.Uncompromising performance, ease-of-use, and great looks to boot - the Juin Tech GT-F brakes tick all the boxes. If the item comes direct from a manufacturer, it may be delivered in non-retail packaging, such as a plain or unprinted box or plastic bag. Well provided you can look past the fact Juin Tech isn't an established brand – at least not in the UK where this review is being written – you should be smiling with these R1 anchors. This system is ideal for those who want to use these brakes with standard, flush and non-hydraulic road or cyclocross controls.

With summer on the wane and cyclocross (not to mention rainy commutes) on the horizon, cyclists' thoughts may be turning to disc brakes. Fitted them this week but still to ride them but they pass the garage track stand test with flying colours. This enables you to convert your bike to a hydraulic disc brake using the normal STI / Ergo levers (short pull levers). This reduces costs (no new brake fittings) as well as the time required and at the same time increases braking performance.

They are a little wooden feeling with my old style Tiagra levers, felt better when I tried them with new 105 though. The added power of the Shimano hydro is most apparent in the early bite, whereas the power comes on more gradually with the GT's.One of the socket set screws is by the actuating arm but at 90 degrees to it the other is on the end of the reseveoir by the J of Juin.
